Watch here for upcoming events. Corpus Christi Religious Education Corpus Christi offers Faith Formation for students age four through sixth grade. All classes are one hour long. Grades one through six begin class with “Breaking Open the Word”. Classes are offered at the following days and times: (Classes begin in September and run through April.)
Preschool – Kindergarten:
Grades 1-6: The Preschool/Kindergarten curriculum focuses on the basics of our Catholic Faith. Grades 1 and 3 will focus on our Catholic Faith Traditions. Grade 2 will focus on sacramental preparation to celebrate First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Grade 4 and Grade 5 is lectionary based. (Each week’s lesson is based on the Sunday’s readings.) Grade 6 will use the Bible as a text and learn from both the Old and New Testaments. In addition
to the curriculum, each grade level will focus on the following: Sacramental Information: Second grade students will celebrate the
Sacrament of Reconciliation in the fall. The text used for
Sacramental preparation is “We Believe and Celebrate: First
Reconciliation” (published by Sadlier). Family Faith Sharing Family Faith Sharing is a lectionary-based program in which families work together at home. Materials are provided, as well as, supplemental information to help students grow in their faith. Parents are asked to attend four meetings each year. This program is offered for students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6. The Genesis program is offered for students older than first grade who have received no previous faith formation. Genesis is a two-year program. The first year provides the students with a faith background: prayers, the Sacraments, the Mass, and Bible stories. Students in the second year of the program will prepare for and celebrate First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. The Genesis program currently meets on Sundays from 10:00-11:00am. Other Programs Corpus Christian Camp: Corpus Christian Camp is a summer event for children ages 3-10. The children attend three hours each day for one week. Camp is a faith based experience featuring games, crafts, music, snacks and more. Little Peoples’ Church: Little Peoples’ Church is held during the summer months for children ages 3-6. Children will experience Gospel centered crafts, stories, videos, and more during the 9am and 11am Masses. There is no cost or registration necessary for this program. St. Nick at Noon – St. Nick at Noon is a yearly event held in December. Children ages 3-10 are invited to attend. Children enjoy videos, crafts, snacks, and more. Become a Catechist The word “catechist” comes from the Greek word, katechein, which means “to echo”. A catechist gives of his or her time and talent to share his/her faith with the youth of our parish. The catechist supports the efforts of the parents, as well as, reinforces the Gospel message, and Sacraments celebrated by the parish.
